PAVILLARD, Eugene Robin Joseph MB, BS, FRCPA
Died Saturday 10th March 2012
In the early hours of Saturday 10th March 2012 Dr. Robin Pavillard passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at Arrow Park Hospital, in the Wirral, England.
Dr Pavillard was the Founder and until his retirement in 2010 Managing Director of Quality Healthcare Australia (QHA).
Dr Pavillard's contribution to healthcare was extraordinary. He trained in medicine at St Marys Hospital in London after the second world war. He was an internationally recognised clinical microbiologist and was a major force in developing that speciality in Australia. He held both clinical and executive positions in England, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. He established Quality Healthcare Australia in 2005 and was instrumental in establishing the International Hospital Accreditation Program for the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards(ACHS).
He was a great teacher and many thousands of medical and non medical staff in hospitals world wide have benefited from his skill and mentoring. He was 82 years of age and mentally and physically vigorous until his final illness. Although Dr Pavillard retired from active involvement with QHA in 2010 he was, until a few days before his death actively promoting new and innovative ways to reduce hospital associated infection, helping to patent a new antibiotic and developing a teaching program for a large national organisation in the Middle East. His astounding intellect, prodigous work ethic and teaching skills will be impossible to replace. But Robin Pavillard will never be forgotten by his colleagues and friends.
QHA is profoundly indebted to Robin Pavillard for his leadership and inspiration. Vale dear friend.
Dr Ross Duncan
